Mountain snowbell is a compact alpine that grows best in humus-rich, well drained, moist soil in partial shade. I first planted it in a raised bed for rock garden plants and that didn't suit it at all. The foliage wilted and it didn't grow well, so I moved it and planted it close to a Rhododendron where it grew very well. I still haven't found the optimum spot for it in my new garden, but last time I checked it was still surviving.
