A group of hybrids with large flowers in a wide variety of colours. They are popular spring flowering plants in countries with warmer climates, but sold here as potted plants in spring, usually too soon to be planted outside, so they're best suited for greenhouses and conservatories. There they can flower several times during the summer. They can't survive winter outside. I had a few plants in an unheated greenhouse where they flowered in early spring, mid summer and sometimes again in fall.
