Annual honesty is a biennial that can maintain itself with self seeding. It flowers early, as early as the beginning of May in warm springs. The seed pods are used in dry flower arrangements. It seems fairly hardy. Each plant only produces one flower stalk, at least here in Iceland, so it looks better to plant a few plants together. The flower stalks are tall enough to need support. It grows best in sun or partial shade, in fertile, well drained soil, preferably lime rich and not acidic.
