Heucherella is a fairly new genus that was formed by the crossing of two distinct genera, Heuchera and Tiarella. Both genera belong to the Saxifragaceae family and are native to N-America. The hybrids combine the colourful foliage of Heuchera and heart-shaped foliage and larger flowers of Tiarella, but they bear a closer resemblance to Heuchera.
'Tapestry' is a pretty hybrid with pink flowers that are considerably larger than flowers of Heuchera species. The foliage is green with burgundy veining. I bought this plant last summer and planted it out in the garden. It was large enough to divide, so I stored one part in the greenhouse as a backup. The one in the greenhouse is doing well, I'll have to wait for the snow to melt to see whether the one outside survived the winter.
