The Christmas rose flowers in late winter or early spring depending on the weather, from February to May. The foliage is evergreen in mild winters. The flowers are usually white. It grows best in humus-rich, well drained, moist, slightly alkaline soil. It dislikes acidic, dry soil and too much sun. Partial shade suits it best.
