Bavarian gentian bears a resemblance to G. verna, but is a bit larger. It flowers around the end of May and into June. It didn't live long in my garden, maybe it needed more lime, maybe it couldn't tolerate the wet winters. Whatever the reason it only flowered twice before disappearing. It needs sharp drainge in gritty, lime-rich soil and full sun.
