'Sooty' is a variety of sweet William with dark red flowers and dark green foliage tinted with burgundy. It has usually flowered for 2-3 years before disappearing, so it needs to be renewed every few years. I originally bought the seed from Thompson & Morgan, but it can be maintained be collecting seed from it as it produces identical plants.
