'Joan's Blood' is a variety of alpine pink with dark pink flowers with a darker ring in the center. I grew it from seed and it lived for a few years. Like other alpine species of pinks it is sensitive to wet winter conditions. It needs well drained, gritty soil and grew best in a rock wall in my garden.
