'Superba' is a variety of Chinese astilbe that is fairly hardy and shade tolerant. It is vigorous ans spreads slowly with rhizomes. It flowers very late, in late August into September, but flowers fairly reliably despite that. It might not finish flowering, but it usually produces flower stalks that at least start flowering. It's best to position it where it gets plenty of sun to give it a better chance of flowering.
