This lovely columbine was grown from seed and turned out to be one of these pleasant surprises when something entirely different grows from the seed than was expected. It might have been seed from A. bertolonii, the flower colour fits, but this plant is quite tall and A. bertolonii is not. It has shown itself to be quite hardy and is not fussy about soil. It grows best in sun or partial shade, although it is quite shade tolerant.
