Winter windflower is a pretty springflowering plant that flowers for most of May. It is fairly hardy and grows best in well drained soil that dries out during the summer months. It is therefore well suited for planting as undergrowth in tree and shrub borders. It can also grow in rock gardens and perennial borders.
'Blue Shades' has been growing in my gardens for over 10 years. It grew very slowly the first few years, but has grown more vigorous in recent years.
